Unexpected Bliss: Workstead House
hi! two days in a row folks!
blogging is hard. actually, blogging is wonderful and rewarding. however, when you have been at it for as long as i have, the inspiration well tends to run dry. hence the on again, off again behavior i have been exhibiting as of late. through the years i have had the pleasure of surrounding myself with all things magnificent and beautiful. i found myself in a “beautiful” coma…i became numb to items, interiors and clothing i had once jumped at the chance to share with all of you. the world of blogging had become a bit painful…and forced. i needed a break.
i wanted my sense of wonder and awe to come back so badly that i started to looking into interiors, destinations and clothing that i had skipped over before, because i had thought it really wasn’t my thing. guess what? these unexpected things and sources began to ignite a spark. i can’t say i am fully inspired every moment of everyday, but i am pleasantly surprised by the new corners i had begun to explore…
all of this is a very long and wordy way of saying this home by workstead is the perfect cure for the dreaded inspiration coma. i had been perusing today and tada! there it was. this stunning row home that makes me all weak in the knees! workstead refers to this home as encompassing “southern modernism.” i have to believe that “southern modernism” in this case has got to have something to do with meticulously updating a historic property, while preserving the history and magic it had been given years ago.
i am thinking i need to rethink this whole white wall thing and throw many of the things i had thought i had known about home interiors out the window. reinvention is a good thing…it keeps you young. :)
